Here is my favorite size Martin guitar. I helped my customer design it in 2015. It was delivered in April of 2016 from Martin's custom shop. A great guitar for finger picking, and plenty of power for the rhythm guitarist or flat picker. Martin calls this size guitar a 0000 or style M
This guitar has a premium grade sitka spruce top that Martin has aged with their VTS - vintage tone system. Brazilian Rosewood is used on the back, sides, bridge, fingerboard, and headplate overlay. Paua shell inlay is used on the top border, rosette, endpiece, fingerboard, bridge, and for the Martin logo on the headstock.
The modified V shaped mahogany neck measures 1 3/4" wide at the nut, 2 1/4" wide at the 12th fret, and 2 3/8" string spacing at the bridge. The fingerboard has style 12 paua snowflakes and paua side dots. The tuning machines are Waverly gold (406-G) with gold plated butter bean buttons.
This guitar is in near new condition. There is a surface scratch on the side of the lower bout about 1" long that would not show in our photos. Also there is a blemish on the center of the back where the guitar contacted the padding of the guitar stand. Again we could not photograph this as it only appears when the guitar is held at a certain angle under direct light.
The neck is straight. The frets show no wear at all. The action measures 3/32" at the 12th fret of the 6th string and 2/32" on the first string at the 12th fret. The action is low and the guitar plays easily without fret buzz. It is set up with light gauge strings.
The guitar has no issues. It includes its original Geib case. The original build sheet from Martin & Co can be seen in the attached photos, with the complete specs of this guitar. Also you will notice on the build sheet the original retail price of $38,120. I am selling the guitar on consignment for the original owner because he desires to slim down his immense collection of beautiful guitars.
